FARMERS UNION OF WALES.

The Farmers Union of Wales (FUW), have called the new food chain legislation "Barmy", where it requires all cattle under eight months old to have their information checked.

Aeron Prysor Jones, chairmen of the FUW’s livestock wool and marts committee, said that slaughterhouses have received notification of the new requirements along with a copy of a model document, that requires farmers to provide at least 19 separate pieces of information relating to each animal.

He went on to say " Yet the vast majority of that information in completely unnecessary, and the form even asks the farmers, to confirm that they have that they have not broken a host of different laws, which is like asking for written confirmation that you are not a bank robber, every time you enter a bank, its utterly barmey".

Mr Jones added that the same rules are going to apply, for sending animals to the livestock auction.
