Warning on sheep sales
As the autumn sales approach, sheep farmers must ensure they are complying with the double tagging rules that came into force at the beginning of the year.
The NSA was concerned very few farmers were fully aware of the new rules stating all sheep born in 2008 and not intended for slaughter under 12 months of age must be double tagged.
Sheep born this year and not intended for slaughter before 12 months, must display two tags before nine months of age (six months if indoors).
