Wide array of fresh produce from the North-East at Durham Farmers Market

FROM organic meat to Northumberland cheese, freshly-baked pastries to the finest fruit and vegetables, Durham's Farmers' Market offers a wide array of produce from right across the North-East.

Established for over 10 years, Durham Farmers' Market is a much-valued feature of the city's calendar, taking place in the attractive setting of the city's Market Place on the third Thursday of each month, playing host to over 20 stallholders from the local area. Rushyford Game, based in Shildon, is the only game dealer licensed to process game in the Sedgefield Borough, and has been exhibiting at Durham's Farmers' Market for the last four years.

"We're very pleased to be able to connect with local Durham residents in this way," said Lee Adams, the stall's manager. "All our meat is organic and our wild rabbit, venison steaks are particularly popular at the market. But we also offer gluten-free burgers too – there's something for everyone."

Locally-based Robinson Butchers, named Best Traditional Business in the North-East as part of the Countryside Alliance's Best Rural Retailer competition, have been coming to the market for over seven years.
