Danish-based pig processing company Tulip Ltd has announced its acquisition of UK-based pig producer Easey Holdings Ltd.

Tulip has reached an agreement of terms with the current owners of Easey Holdings and completed the acquisition on September 8.

It is seeking regulatory approval from the Competition and Markets Authority.

Easey Holdings is a family-owned pig farming operation consisting of four key divisions - breeding herds, growing herds, a veterinary practice and a livestock transport business.

Tulip breed and rear around 1.5 million pigs a year. With around 30% of the UK market share, Tulip is the UK’s largest pig farming business and buyer of slaughter pigs.

Tulip said the acquisition represents an investment in British farming. It operates 15 plants and employs 5,900 people in the UK.
