The ex-wife of missing Hertfordshire farmer William Taylor and her partner have pleaded not guilty to his murder.

The pair were charged with conspiracy to murder the 69-year-old in December.

Angela Taylor, aged 52, of Charlton Road, Hitchin, was charged with conspiracy to murder in connection with the disappearance of Mr Taylor from Gosmore in North Hertfordshire.

Paul Cannon, aged 53, of Pirton Road, Hitchin, was also been charged.

However, the pair have now pleaded not guilty to his murder, and have also denied an arson attack on Mr Taylor's car days before he disappeared last June.

The farmer was last seen at his home in Gosmore on Sunday, June 3 at around 9pm – shortly before his 70th birthday.

He was reported missing to police the following day (Monday, June 4). His body has never been found.

Since then extensive enquiries and searches have been carried out in the effort to locate him.

Police scoured an area within a 1.7km (1.05 mile) radius of Mr Taylor's farm in July.
