More power to the CX

With two contrasting harvest seasons under its belt, the New Holland CX combines have gained a reputation for productivity that is as impressive as its appearance.

Changes to the range for 2004 will ensure that the CX range stays firmly at the pinnacle of harvester performance.

Most significantly, the five-straw walker machines see an engine power increase of between 14hp and 23hp, depending on model (see table). This effectively takes each machine¡¦s horsepower close to that of the previous rating of the next-sized model. In the case of the CX780, engine power now matches that of the six-straw walker CX840.

To improve engine response, electronic engine governors will now be fitted to all eight CX combine models ƒ{ previously they featured only on the larger six-straw walker models.

For CX720 through to CX840 a fuel cooler can now be specified. In high working temperatures, or when the fuel level in the tank is low, regulating the fuel temperature can help to stabilise engine power. The cooler can also be retro-fitted to existing machines. The Iveco engines on the CX860 and CX880 already benefit from a fuel temperature compensation system as standard.
