NFU Cymru is launching a major new advertising campaign this week on ITV, S4C, local commercial radio, social media and in Welsh national and local newspapers entitled: “NFU Cymru. We’re here for you. / NFU Cymru. yma ar eich cyfer chi.”

The first ITV television advert appeared last night in the middle of the rural life soap opera - Emmerdale. Adverts also appeared last night on S4C during Cefn Gwlad and Pobol y Cwm.

Featuring the warm tones of Roy Noble, the advertising campaign depicts life on three typical Welsh farms and explains to viewers how NFU Cymru can help farmers and their businesses by providing advice, representation to government and delivering a strong voice for the industry.

NFU Cymru President, Stephen James, said, “This is a first for NFU Cymru. We have never before launched such a fair reaching, all-encompassing advertising campaign. The launch of this exciting new bilingual advertising campaign starts ahead of this week’s NFU Cymru annual national conference taking place in Llandrindod Wells where we will be discussing the future for the agricultural industry in Wales. We want to show Welsh farmers that we have faith in the future of our industry and together we have a stronger voice.”

The NFU Cymru advertising campaign will run over the next 12 months and will feature sponsorship advertising around Cefn Gwlad on S4C, primetime daytime and evening adverts on ITV. Radio adverts can be heard on all the major commercial Welsh radio stations.

The campaign will also incorporate web advertising on social media and Google aswell as print advertising in the Daily Post, Western Mail and local newspapers.

NFU Cymru Director John Mercer said, “We are coming off the back of a hugely successful membership year where we have seen a growth in membership and this bilingual advertising campaign seeks to build on the successful ‘It’s Time To Back Welsh Farming’ initiative we have been running this year. Our intention is to raise the profile of the hard work the NFU Cymru team do on behalf of the industry not just in the headquarters on the Royal Welsh Showground but the network of offices in every county of Wales. We want this advertising campaign to help convince all farmers in Wales that membership of NFU Cymru is vital.”
