National press advertising for Freedom Food

Freedom Food has embarked on a national press advertising campaign in the run up to Christmas.

The aim is to raise consumer awareness and understanding of the scheme, says Freedom Food, as well as providing support for specific product categories, with the focus currently on eggs, turkey and chicken.

The egg advert has so far appeared in The Guardian, Daily Mail, The Times, The Independent, The Observer, Sunday Express and Mail on Sunday. The RSPCA’s farm animal assurance scheme was also being promoted to visitors at last month’s BBC Good Food Show, held at the NEC, Birmingham.

Celebrity chef Lesley Waters was on the Freedom Food stand cooking up a selection of omelettes, puddings and eggy bread with eggs supplied by Stonegate.

Nina Crump, marketing controller of Freedom Food, commented: “With the festive season upon us and the obvious increase in food animal production, it is even more important to tell consumers how vital high welfare standards are for improving the lives of animals bred for food.”
