Wolverhampton arable farm sells for in excess of £1.6 million

Shrewsbury agents Halls have completed the sale of a 283-acre arable farm, which included a four bedroomed farmhouse near Wolverhampton.

Pennwood Farm, Penn Common, between Wolverhampton and Bridgnorth, sold in excess of its guide price of £1.6 million to a local farmer.

The farm was sold on behalf of A and J. Mucklow and Co Ltd, who had owned it since 1964 but were now focusing on the company’s core business of commercial property investment and development.

Around 224 acres were used to grow arable crops and 28 acres of pasture supported an equestrian livery business, which used the main farm building.

The 21,750 square feet building was used as an indoor floodlit manege with 29 substantial loose boxes and there was a further brick building, a triple span Dutch barn with lockable steel doors and a concrete walled manure store.

Shaun Jones, from Halls, said the farm was sold to a local farmer who planned to expand his arable enterprise.

"There continues to be very strong demand for agricultural property of all types across Shropshire, the West Midlands and Mid Wales," he added. "We have a list of potential investors waiting for an opportunity to buy land, which remains a secure investment in the current economic climate.

"We would be happy to advise anyone who is considering selling a farm or a block of land."
