In the early years supplies were primarily obtained from competitive European based manufacturers geared to the specific ranges of machines targeted at the European markets. Many high quality spares were then available in the massive USA market but the machine differences at the time meant that the parts were often not relevant to UK farmers. machinery has created one range of totally integrated machines for the European and US markets. Historically markets have been separate with different machine ranges. This has now all changed, with machine commonality rather like the massive automotive markets. European made harvesting machines eg. Claas are now seeking volume sales in USA and American made harvesters eg John Deere Inc. are sold in substantial numbers in Euro zone. This economy of scale provides an excellent opportunity to supply the UK market with competitively priced spares that are sourced worldwide enabling UK operators to benefit from the economies of scale and competitiveness of some larger overseas markets.
