Farm To Table

Our family business is centered around sustainable farming which bring delicious, seasonal food to our customers. We encourage people to experiment more with their food, provide opportunities for people to learn about our farming practices, highlighting how short the journey can be from field to fork.

Our 840 acre farm grows a variety of crops and flowers. We grow Spring Barley, Wheat, Seed Potatoes, Ware Potatoes and a mix of vegetables, we also have a small crop of Daffodils which we pick flowers from and then sell on the bulbs. We also rent out land for peas, carrots and swede to local farmers.

All our vegetables are sold through our little farm shop – The Spud Hut – which was opened in 2017. It started with tatties, neeps and carrots and has grown to include a wide variety of vegetables grown on site and from local producers. The Spud Hut also stock fresh bread and bakes from Gannets in Laurencekirk, and jams/marmalades and chutneys from Mearns Marmalades. The most recent addition to the shop was locally produce Beef from Drumsleed Meats which is just 1.5 miles along the road from the shop.

Westerton Farmers have two open weekends each year – one in spring to look round the cows and calves, and learn all about what we do on the farm. The other is in October which is a harvest market - there are stalls where local businesses sell their produce, activities for kids and we sell our home grown pumpkins, squashes and neeps ahead of Halloween.
