Applied research
100 per cent of our research was declared of international quality, with more than 50 per cent either world leading or internationally excellent. We’ve created an environment where students, staff and industry work together on research with real-world impact, taking on some of the biggest global challenges facing our expanding population. We’re improving animal welfare, tackling food scarcity and developing new farm technologies. The work we produce is shaping professional practice government policy and the application of new technologies.
These projects have real, applied value and in some cases are sponsored by industry. For example, 2016 graduate Andrew Harrison’s work, funded by AHDB Dairy, provided useful insights into the behaviour of dairy cattle and should create new UK standards for the particle size distribution of grass silage and TMR.

Features
Harper Adams University has an adjacent commercial farm with beef, dairy, pig, poultry and sheep enterprises. Also situated on the estate are the Dairy Crest Innovation Centre, Agricultural Engineering Innovation Centre, Crops and Environment Research Centre and Agri-Tech Innovation Hub. In addition to teaching and research, Harper Adams offers a series of conference and event venues and services.
