Agriculture is broad and challenging sector, and consequently the course is designed to develop a breadth of knowledge across a range of sectors. Our agriculture courses provide an understanding of modern agricultural production systems and the underlying scientific and technological principles. Facilities:Purpose built Agricultural resource centre970 acre commercial farm designed to demonstrate principles in practice and the application of scientific, technological and business principles to commercial agricultural and food production.Where will I study?You will be based at our Llysfasi campus in our purpose built Agricultural resource centre. Llysfasi is located in Ruthin, North East Wales. Farm enterprises: You will have full access to our 970 acre commercial farm which comprises of 230 cow dairy herd, Beef and Sheep enterprises, alongside a range of Forage crop production.What subjects will I study?The course consists of a combination of the following units:
Health and safety for land-based industries Agricultural power units and machinery operation Crop husbandry Farm animal production Farm estate maintenance Physiology of plants and animals Working in the agricultural industry Why choose Agriculture at Llysfasi?Strong working relationships with industry specialists.Developing skills in: animal sciences, machinery, plant and animal husbandry, crops, grassland and business.Opportunities to gain additional qualifications in: Safe Use of Pesticides, Telehandler and ATV licences.Hands-on practical work experience on our commercial farm and industrial work placements are an integral element to the course and contribute to future employment opportunities.Extensive links with other agricultural and food related businesses, external visits and guest speakers are integrated into the course.
