Course overview
Anyone transporting vertebrate animals on journeys of over 65 km (approximately 40 miles) as part of an economic activity must hold a valid transporter authorisation to do so. Anyone transporting cattle, sheep, pigs, goats, domestic equidae or poultry by road over 65 km is required to hold valid certificates of competence for drivers and attendants of road vehicles.This qualification enables you as a driver to be compliant when using road vehicles for transporting farm animals and horses as part of an economic activity and is in line with Government regulations that came into effect in 2007 & 2008.This qualification has been designed for those transporting cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, horses, or poultry on road journeys over 65km / 40 miles (up to and including 8 hours).We feel that if you work in the industry and have experience of moving livestock then formal training should not be required to pass this exam. Candidates will be provided with information and sample questions to look at if they need to brush up on anything. The computer-based test is multiple choice and focuses on animal welfare.The cost stated below includes the modules for cattle and sheep. If candidates wish to take additional modules (eg: pigs) then there is an additional charge of £30 + VAT. Pre reading material is available upon request
