You need to be employed to start an Apprenticeship. Please visit our vacancy page or if you have an employer, please ensure you add full contact details of your employer within your application. If you are unable to secure employment, you could enrol on a full-time study programme and transfer to an Apprenticeship at a later date. Please apply for a full-time course as your second option.This flexible qualification suits practical learners with a passion for animals who want to improve their knowledge and competence.You have the option to study two pathways – dog grooming or animal care and welfare. To be successful, you must complete a range of mandatory and optional units. The selection of optional units depends on your pathway.Examples of units may include:Control and restrain animalsMaintain the cleanliness and bio security of the animal care working environmentProvide opportunities for animals to have freedom to exercisePrepare and groom animalsPrepare feed for animalsContribute to the evaluation and implementation of basic animal training programmesAssessment MethodsAssessment includes written coursework, an online portfolio, expert witness statements provided by employer and a practical assessment in the workplace.Progression OptionsHaving successfully completed this course, you can progress to the Level 3 qualification. Alternatively you may choose to continue to work within your current employment and use the knowledge you have gained to move into a supervisory position.
