Course overview
If you have yet to attend a recognised first aid course, then this training course has been designed with you in mind. In this course, you will learn the basic skills and knowledge of first aid. You will gain the confidence to administer simple, but sometimes life-saving, techniques in the workplace.The course is both theory and practical and is covered over 3 days. You will be given plenty of time to fully absorb the knowledge required to successfully gain the certificate while building your abilities to ensure you are capable in the workplace. The areas we cover over the 3 days include: resuscitation; unconsciousness; airway and breathing problems; circulation problems; wounds and bleeding; burns and scalds; injuries to bones, muscles, and joints; and other serious conditions.Course Objectives
Assess situations and carry out appropriate action including informing emergency servicesCarry out cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)Place a casualty in the recovery position and know when to use this positionKnow when and how to use the spinal injury recovery positionClear obstructed airwaysControl severe bleedingRecognise and treat shockUnderstand the requirements for a first aid kit and know any changes in first aid at work legislation or guidanceRecognise and treat head injuriesRecognise and treat major illnessesDeal with burns and scaldsDeal with chemical contaminationDeal with poisonsRecognise and treat sprains, dislocations, and fracturesKnow when and how to move casualties safelyRecognise and treat other miscellaneous conditionsAll of the above in a safe approved manner, with no risk to self or third party.Who Is This Course For?This course is for those who work in any industry and need to ensure relevant qualifications are present in the workplace. It is a prerequisite for the further specialised +F First Aid course available through DJ Gemmill.
