Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Principles

Ignite your passion for motor vehicle repair with this course.
This course is designed as a second year “top up” to the Level 2 Certificate programme. This course covers all light vehicle service aspects, focusing on efficiently replacing key components to industry standards and builds on the subjects covered in the Level 2 Certificate. Students will discover the functions of the complex systems within today’s vehicles and how these systems integrate with one other to operate to the manufacturer’s specification.
Course content Drive line & transmissions Job roles in the motor vehicle industry Engine systems components and operation Engine cooling and lubrication Steering and suspension systems Braking systems Maintenance of wheels and tyres Exhaust systems Vehicle lighting system Work Experience
Study programmes include a minimum of compulsory work experience hours achieved through one day a week or block placements. The amount of hours required is dependent on the study programme.
