Course overview
Farmers, farm staff & persons who have responsibility for all aspects of rodent control, pest control officers, public utilities, local authorities, grain merchants and gamekeepers.Course Aims - Participants will be able to:-• To identify species• Understand the need for control• Understand rodent breeding, feeding, disease and behavioural patterns to enable best practice of typeand timing of control methods• Plan control effectively at the appropriate time and place• Select most efficient control measure for the relevant situation. Poison, traps etc.• Select the correct rodenticide for the job• Be familiar with the Specific Safety Data Sheet for any poisons used.• Carry out a survey of an infested area.• Select sites & lay poison to control the infestation• Action on completion & locate permanent bail sites• Have a knowledge of the legal aspects of rodent control• Practice the relevant skills.Course Content• Reasons for control• Biology – breeding, feeding etc.• Legal aspects on control• Methods of control• Safety precautions for users• Practical demonstration and class practice in the relevant techniques.
