PD/OSCE CPD Day Adult

Course overview
These days will give active, experienced clinical supervisors an overview of the gateway and professional discussion process. This is to ensure supervisors remain up to date and compliant with Awarding Organisation requirements and is especially important for supervisors of students with imminent PDs and OSCEs.

Veterinary Nurse Students are assessed in many ways before they can qualify; their training log is used to assess their practical capabilities. When a clinical supervisor has confirmed competence for a student in all of their tasks they are confirming that the student is competent in the Day One Competencies for Veterinary Nurses. The training log must be complete before students can enter their OSCEs. Therefore, the OSCE tests, in part, are used as an assessment of the Clinical Supervisor’s judgement, as well as the student’s ability.

Supervisors who have attended these events have stated that they have increased their understanding of the PD and OSCE requirements and, in turn, this proves invaluable to their students. Students should be practicing practical tasks as part of their training log and OSCE preparation within their training practices, in addition to the support they receive from the VN Centre. There is the added bonus that these days provide 5 hours of really useful, affordable, locally accessed CPD.
