Course overview
Careers
Graduates from this course have gone on to a wide range of careers — from advisory roles at organisations like LEAF and Promar, to positions in government agencies such as AHDB, Natural Resources Wales and the Environment Agency. Others have pursued research, PhDs and academic roles both in the UK and internationally, or joined professional societies like the British Ecological Society. Here are just a few of the directions you could take:
1. Farm and Land Management
Apply ecological principles in commercial settings — helping farms transition to regenerative systems, improve soil health and biodiversity, and respond to changing policy and climate pressures.
2. Advisory and Consultancy Roles
Work with NGOS, sustainability consultancies or government bodies to support more resilient, equitable and nature-positive food systems — in the UK or overseas.
3. Research and Innovation
Develop evidence-based solutions to complex challenges across sustainable agriculture, conservation, agroecology and food policy — or progress into PhD study and academic careers.
4. Food Systems and Policy
Contribute to the wider transformation of agri-food systems by shaping strategy, engaging communities, or working in advocacy, communication and programme delivery.
