Course overview
Course objectives:

• How to avoid accidents and carry out an on-site risk assessment
• About the relevant legal requirements and how to meet them
• How to adjust the cutting mechanisms to give the required standard of cut
• The importance of daily checks and routine maintenance
• To identify faults and record or report
• To operate the mower safely and efficiently

Each course for each type of mower, ie. Ride on or pedestrian cylinder, rotary or flail, covers the following points:

• Identify the risks associated with this type of machine
• Select appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Carry out daily checks as indicated in the operator's manual
• Carry out pre-start checks
• Identify and report any faults
• Adjust the cutting mechanism to achieve the required standard
• Operate the machine in a safe and competent manner
• Perform after-use maintenance
• Understand requirements for traveling on the public road
• Be able to load and transport the machine (if appropriate)

Personal Protective Equipment for Tractor Driving Courses:

• Close fitting overalls
• Steel toe capped shoes/boots
• Light industrial gloves
