Course overview
This course will help to develop your knowledge and skills of general animal care, which is vital for anyone wishing to work within the animal care sector. You will also complete a module of learning that prepares you to progress to the T Level in Animal Management at Level 3.
The course also involves a unit which allows you to develop your knowledge and skills in animal grooming. You will focus on grooming dogs and skills in bathing, health checks and grooming.
The animal collection at Taylor Hill Animal Centre is varied and you will develop skills in handling, welfare and health of the different types of animals, for example, reptiles, birds and small mammals.
You will learn about the design and requirements of animal accommodation and undertake practical sessions such as cleaning, health checks and feeding to ensure the animals are safe and healthy.
