The course reflects the skills and knowledge needed to pursue a career in Trees and Timber.What modules are covered?Mandatory Units• Control local pollution incidents in environmental and land-based industries• Identify tree species, their properties and associated plants• Monitor and maintain health and safety• Fell and process small trees• Crosscut and stack small diameter timber using a chainsaw• Prepare & maintain safe working sites for arboricultural operations from the ground• Arboricultural ground worker• Process arisings/residues from tree work and timber operations• Chainsaw maintenanceOptional Units - Examples (these are chosen by your assessor and employer)• Treat & dispose of stumps and roots• Climbing and aerial rescue• Safe use of powered pole pruners• Using a chainsaw from a rope and harness• Sectional fellingWhat qualification will I get?Apprenticeship Level 2 Work-Based Diploma in Trees and Timber (Arboriculture)How will I be assessed?Assessments are of a practical nature and are carried out throughout the course. The underpinning knowledge is also assessed. This can be done by a range of methods including written and verbal assessment.
