Location
we are seeking an experienced and motivated farm manager to oversee the day-to-day running of our 650-acre dairy farm, located between bath and bristol. the manager will be working 11 days per fortnight.
the role involves full responsibility for managing a team of three full-time staff and a 160-cow holstein friesian herd. milking is carried out twice per day through a modern 20:20 boumatic parlour, installed in 2016, and operating with smartdairy / herdmetrix software.
key responsibilities
- day-to-day management of the dairy unit
- staff supervision, organisation, and motivation
- milking management and parlour operation
- calf rearing and youngstock management
- feeding, bedding and yard work
- liaison with vets and other advisers
- responsibility for herd health and fertility performance
- maintaining high standards of animal welfare and farm presentation
the successful candidate will work closely with the farm owner, playing a key role in decision-making and the ongoing development of the business.
package
- 5.6 weeks / 34 days holiday per annum
- salary dependent on experience
