Dairy Herd Manager

A progressive dairy farm in Somerset with a 350-head pedigree Holstein herd is looking for an experienced Herd Manager. The farm operates a modern rotary parlour and is committed to high welfare standards and genetic improvement.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee all aspects of herd management including health, fertility, and nutrition
• Manage a team of 4 dairy workers across a shift rota
• Work closely with the farm vet on herd health planning
• Monitor KPIs including yield, cell count, and conception rates
• Implement and maintain breeding programmes using genomic sires

Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years' experience managing a herd of 200+ cows
• Strong understanding of dairy nutrition and grassland management
• Experience with herd management software (e.g., Sum-It or CIS)
• Calm, stockmanship-focused approach

Salary: £38,000 – £45,000 plus 3-bed cottage, utilities, and milk allowance.
