Herdsperson job - 1100-cow dairy farm - devon

we are a progressive and well-established 1100-cow dairy farm seeking a dedicated, experienced herdsman/herdsperson to join our team. this is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about high-quality cow care, herd health, and modern dairy farming.

key responsibilities:

•daily monitoring and care of a 1100 cow milking herd

•identifying and treating health issues, lameness, and illnesses

•assisting with calving, fertility management, and youngstock monitoring

•maintaining accurate records (health, treatments, production, etc.)

•working closely with the farm manager and wider team to ensure peak herd performance

•ensuring high standards of animal welfare, hygiene, and biosecurity

requirements:

•previous experience working with dairy cattle

•strong knowledge of herd health, fertility, and general livestock management

•ability to work independently and as part of a team

•good observational skills and attention to detail

•reliability, initiative, and a positive attitude

•competence with farm equipment and technology is an advantage
