K*****Farms is part of the B*******Estate near Cirencester and has a modern dairy unit with 350 cows and youngstock/beef. We are seeking an experienced herdsperson to join the team working closely with the unit manager. You will be part of an exciting period as the unit transitions to Robotic milking and develops the youngstock/beef enterprises. The dairy is one of several enterprises on the large mixed farming estate, as such you will be part of a wider team and benefit from the support this offers.
You will be part of a 4-person team, the cows are currently milked 2x day through a 36:36 rapid exit parlour. The dairy is modern with excellent handling facilities and cattle accommodation. A continual investment plan is in place with Robots being installed in the Spring, this will also include a cow health monitoring system along with other technology which should be of benefit to cows and people. You will be involved in management decisions taking responsibility for feeding and the new youngstock/beef enterprise.
The successful candidate will be passionate about dairy cows and ensure the highest standards of animal welfare are maintained. You will work collaboratively as part of the team to push continuous improvements in cow production, health and welfare. You should have a positive attitude and be committed to maintaining the highest standards set at Kemble Farms dairy. Ideally you will have experience of herd health management, IT recording systems, foot trimming and AI. Training can be provided and we welcome applications from people looking to further their career.
The role offers a great amount of autonomy and responsibility. For this level of responsibility, we offer a detached 4 bed house within walking distance of the unit and a package to attract the best. Regular time off is offered totalling 100 days per year including regular weekends built into the rota.
