'Paltry' milk price rise
Cumbrian MP Tim Farron says Tesco's 0.5 pence per litre milk price rise is not enough.
The Westmorland and Lonsdale MP, who chairs the All Party Parliamentary Group on Hill Farming, wrote to Tesco's chief executive Sir Terry Leahy urging the company to increase its price to 30 pence per litre.
Mr Farron said: "I pointed out that dairy farming in this country was in trouble, and that the loss of Britain's dairy industry would be a huge blow for the farmers, the countryside and the environment.
