A thief has stolen more than 200 unhatched birds after stealing an incubator and a quad bike from a breeder in Essex.

Posh Poultry of Broadley Common, Epping, was targeted in a suspected burglary between 3.30pm on Easter Sunday (April 16) and 8.30am on Monday (April 17).

The unhatched birds will have now died.

The suspects forced entry through a panel in the barn and took the incubator that contained eggs which were ready to hatch.

They also stole a red Honda 350 quad bike which could be sold on for more than £3,000.

Posh Poultry also show their chickens to schoolchildren for events and missed a booking because of the break-in.

Jamie Berrecloth, 42, business owner is now appealing for people to assist with an Essex Police investigation.

He said: "We want people to come forward, it would help us.

"It does affect our business. It will affect us in a big way."

Inquiries are ongoing. Anyone with more information should call Essex Police on 101 quoting 42/56971/17.
