Two men have been taken to hospital after a traffic collision which saw a Range Rover crash into a boarded up farm house.

The incident happened on a rural road with a speed limit of 30mph in the Sandwell Valley, a green belt area in the West Midlands.

The Range Rover collided into the side of Forge Farm, opposite the popular rural attraction Forge Mill Farm.

Forge Farm farmhouse has been boarded up for several years, and is currently up for sale for £450,000 which includes a range of outbuildings, according to local paper Express & Star.

The farm has been described as "historic" by estate agents Fisher German.

Specialists were sent to the scene to see if the farm house was structurally safe after the incident.

A West Midlands Fire Service spokesman said: “Two males were injured and taken to hospital, but they had non life-threatening injuries.”

Motorists in the countryside have been warned to take care on roads as it is revealed that over half of road fatalities occurred in rural areas during 2016.

51% of fatalities occur on rural roads and the number of people killed is nearly 10 times higher than on motorways.
