A grand reward for the Supreme equine at the Royal Show

A Supreme prize pot of over £2,500 has attracted a large number of entries in this year’s in hand horse classes at the Royal Show in Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire on 2-5 July 2006.

Sponsored by horse feed specialists TopSpec Equine, the Supreme In Hand Horse or Pony Champion is selected from the winners of the Supreme In Hand Mountain and Moorland Pony Championship and the Supreme In Hand Light Horse Championship and the Heavy Horse Championship.

The overall supreme winner will take home a £1,000 prize with the reserve champion receiving £250.

“With a £1,000 prize for the Champion, which is a large prize for the showing world, the championship is very highly regarded,” said Debbie Dann, Royal Show equine specialist.

This high profile competition will be judged in the Grand Ring on the Wednesday of the show when a panel of independent judges will decide the supreme champion who will take the title ‘TopSpec Supreme In Hand Champion’.

As well as the overall Supreme In Hand Award, TopSpec is also sponsoring the Light Horse and the Mountain and Moorland In Hand Championships. In both sections the champions will receive £500 and the reserve champions £150.

Nicola Tyler of TopSpec said: “The Supreme In Hand Championship at the Royal Show is a coveted accolade in the horse world and we are pleased to support it.

“The Royal is a major highlight on the summer show circuit, great fun socially, good shopping and fabulous horses and ponies. To have a manufacturer of top specification products supporting what has always been considered to be a top specification show seems particularly fitting.”
