Abalone farm in financial trouble
A South Australian abalone farm, once said to be the biggest in the southern hemisphere, has gone into voluntary administration because of cash problems.
A recent evaluation of abalone stocks at the Kangaroo Island farm have shown that production estimates set four years ago were too high.
While KI Abalone is still running, administrator Peter Macks says he will revise stock levels.
He says farming abalone can be a risky venture.
