ABNA launches Abnatech Global to offer HACCP, food safety and traceability improvement

ABNA, Britain's biggest agribusiness supplier, is planning to share its wide expertise in the agri-food supply chain by launching a new consultancy arm, Abnatech Global.

Abnatech Global will provide a full range of consultancy services, including quality assurance, nutrition, risk management, manufacturing and processing expertise, to companies in the UK and elsewhere.

Launching the service, Dr Helen Raine, ABNA Director of Food Assurance and Technology, said: "We are offering Abnatech Global to the rest of the industry because we believe we have significant technical know-how and experience in the field.

"The service we will be offering is unique as we will be using experienced operators and managers who will be able to bring up-to-the-minute knowledge to the service."

As part of the initiative, Abnatech Global will be offering training courses on implementing and managing a practical HACCP system within the agri-food supply chain. Dr Raine said that consumer demand for food safety continued to increase and, as a result, the requirement for HACCP is getting more significant at all links in the food chain. The momentum is likely to increase further with impending EU legislation, together with an International Feed Ingredients Standard and a European Feed Manufacturing Code - all of which demand HACCP.

"We also believe that it is in the interest of the food chain as a whole that everything is done to raise safety standards through the application of HACCP, safety assurance and traceability; that raises consumer confidence in the food chain and all companies can benefit," she added.
