Kelland's, manufacturer of the Agribuggy self-propelled sprayer, has developed a new version specifically designed to fit into polytunnels and is aimed at the soft fruit, vegetable and horticultural sectors.
The machine features a new low profile cab to enable it to work comfortably in the 2.5 metre height restriction of the tunnels while still providing good underbelly clearance for raised bed systems such as strawberries.
The machine follows the development of an initial order from a customer seeking to replace both an existing self-propelled sprayer used on his arable acreage and an air blast unit for 60 acres under the polytunnels.
The tunnel sprayer incorporating a new low profile cab is based on a standard chassis and running gear, thus allowing quick and easy demounting, attachment and operation of either the 2000 litre, 24 metre sprayer or the 600 litre air blast unit.
The development specification includes a LandRover Tdi 111hp engine, automatic transmission, Melo heavy-duty axles, and 4-wheel steering. This all being identical to the standard Agribuggy Tdi 2000 which, with its fully laden weight of only 5.8 tonnes, has now proved to be the most popular and versatile low ground pressure sprayer in the UK.
