Agriculture students attend convention
Thirty Fort Hays State University students recently returned from the 88th Block and Bridle National Convention in Kansas City, Mo.
The event, that took place Oct 18 to 21, was put together and planned by both the FHSU and Kansas State University chapters, in conjunction with the American Royal chapter. More than 35 schools and 420 students attended the national convention -- the first one to be hosted by the two universities.
Block and Bridle is a club that promotes agriculture within the community and within the university. Members said for the past two years, the clubs at both schools put in long hours to plan an educational and enjoyable event. The FHSU chapter has approximately 50 members.
Students from both schools planned everything the event had to offer.
Danielle Dinkel, a Palco junior, said she had been preparing hectically for the event for several months.
"The closer it got to the convention, the more we had to do as a club. We were constantly working on the small, behind-the-scene activities that not a lot of people got to see," Dinkel said.
