Albay gives fertilizer discount coupons to farmers

The provincial government of Albay will distribute fertilizer discount coupons to over 23,000 farmers in the province to ease the farmers' burden in buying high cost of fertilizers being sold in the market and subsequently boost agricultural production in Albay.

Albay Gov. Joey Sarte Salceda said the province would subsidize some 98,000 bags of fertilizer to be sold with a discount price of P250 per bag from the current price of P1,900 per bag of Urea.

Of the 98,000 discount coupons 52,000 came from the provincial government of Albay while the 46,000 came from the Department of Agriculture, Salceda said.
