Agriculture ministry opposes ceiling on raw cotton export

The Agriculture Ministry has opposed fixing of any quantitative ceiling on exports of raw cotton for the current year as it would adversely affect cotton-growers who have begun fetching reasonable returns due to rising domestic prices and export demands.

In a recent meeting the Committee of Secretaries (CoS) observed that the proposal of the Textiles Ministry on fixing a quantitative ceiling on exports of raw cotton for the current year up to September 30.
