Annex 1 Listing Success for Range of ECOspray Garlic-Based Products

Annex 1 listing has been granted for a range of environmentally-friendly garlic-based products developed and formulated by ECOspray UK Ltd, just at the time when the EU is questioning the future of many synthetic pesticides.

"We are delighted that our range of garlic extracts crop protection products, marketed as ECOguard or NEMguard, has been granted Annex 1 listing in the EU for the purpose of repellancy, insecticidal and nematicidal activity. This successful application potentially makes the way for the introduction of a range of environmental products with strong insecticidal and nematicidal activity into a market place where withdrawals of many major pesticides may be anticipated in the near future. ECOguard Granules and Liquid and NEMguard Liquid and Granules tick all the boxes as far as the environment goes and are also safe to the operator. One significant advantage is that they have no set MRL being classified as a food grade material – this is a real advantage in the market where many retail outlets are seeking low or even no residues in their produce. These products are also suitable for organic as well as conventionally grown crops," says Stephen Silvester, Sales Manager of ECOspray Ltd.

Stephen points out that ECOspray were the only company to submit a full dossier to the EU. "Other company dossiers were incomplete and this shows the true commitment we have to providing a technically sound and well supported portfolio of products to the market place."

ECOspray was the first company to gain registration approval for Breck-a-Sol, a biocide formulated with natural plant extract and highly effective in killing European Poultry red mite, heralding the way for other natural based extracts. Available as a Liquid or Granule, ECOguard is already registered in Denmark, Norway and Ireland as an insecticide in vegetable crops and applications are pending in Germany, Italy, Turkey, and Greece.
