Argentina-Economists predictions on economy and farming.
ARGENTINA.
FINANCIAL FORECAST.
The Economy of Argentina, is forecast to experience in 2009 almost flat growth, inflation above 20%, unemployment closing on two digits and the US dollar range of 3.8 to 4 pesos to the dollar.
Making matters worse, is the situation could become even more grave, if funds continue to leave the country at the present rate. There has been an estimated US$25 billion leave the country in the last year.
According to an unnamed government source, in a national newspaper on Monday, " the economy is sliding and the tendency is that it will go further down, the only thing in doubt is how fast it will fall".
The source went on to say, in his most candid statement, "there is going to be a significant drop in exports, partly compensated by less imports, not enough to cover the fleeing capital".
Other economists have gone a step further, in predictions of doom and gloom for the economy.
The Argentine government forecasts for 2009 are, growth 4%, inflation 8% and the US dollar at 3.40 pesos
