ARGENTINA-FARMERS SHOW THEIR HAND.

Vice President Julio Cobos, officially opened the third Expoagro farm exhibition on Friday in Santa Fe and said that gradual lowering of the export tax on soy is essential.

Opposition members of Congress, have seized on the remarks and the vice president is being lauded as anti government and anti President Kirchner.

It was the vice president, who gave the casting vote against the government in relation to proposed increases in soy taxes in July of 2008.

One farm leader said on Saturday, " Trust is not re-built by the signing of four pieces of paper", referring to the government accord signed on Tuesday with the government.


The farmers are becoming politically active in Argentina and several farm leaders are running for Congress in the October lections.
