Argentina-The Drought is over.

ARGENTINA-FLOODS AND MUDSLIDES.

Officials say that at least eight people are missing and more than 750 residents remained evacuated on Tuesday, after a massive mud slide caused by torrential rains swept away homes and a railway bridge, in the city of Tartagal in the north of Argentina.

After the hottest and driest summer in 55 years, the rains were indeed a welcome sight, however like the north of Australia, the damage being caused by the excessive rains is going to cost even more crops and livestock than the drought.

Gustavo Paul, head of the Salta Civil Defense, said that eight people were missing and had been swept away by the mud or the waters.

Among the missing were two women aged 75 and 59 years.

Between 8,000 and 10,000 people have beef affected by the storms, while 750 people remain homeless.

Bulldozers began clearing away the mud on Wednesday morning, while farmers have no idea of the damage to the crops until the waters recede.

Farmers in the region, have been hit by the worse drought this summer in living memory, with crops dying in the ground.
