ARGENTINA-TRADE BALANCE WITH BRAZIL.

The Argentine balance of trade with Brazil registered a 20-million-dollar surplus in March. It was the first time Argentine exports exceeded imports from the country’s main trade partner since 2003. Nevertheless, in the first quarter of 2009, the bilateral balance of trade closed with a 39-million-dollar deficit for Argentina, according to a report of Abeceb.com consultant.

Trade volume dropped 23.5 percent in March, but it showed signs of recovery from the first two months of the year, said the report. "The contraction of the deficit with Brazil follows the trend shown by bilateral trade since September 2008, which deepened in December as a result of the steep contraction in Argentine imports," it added.
