Australia: Harvey Beef – more changes in store.

A Western Australian farm lobby group has said that there will be more changes within the processor Harvey Beef’s operations.

18 workers have been cut and another 12 moved into other areas, as a major review of the state’s largest processor still takes place.

According to the Australian Meatworkers Union, most of the staff who have lost their jobs are international temporary visa holders.


More changes at Harvey Beef

Mike Norton from the WA Farmers Federation has stated that Harvey Beef has a lot more room for improvement.

"There has to be serious changes made to the way that that plant’s run if it is going to be as cost effective as to what it’s competitors are to the east coast .

This is just the start, there may well be quite substantially more changes made at Harvey before they achieve the right outcomes.
