AUSTRALIA-CARGILL BEEF Inc.

Cargill Beef Australia, which first started processing Certified Australian Angus Beef (CAAB) in 1999, has renewed its long-standing status as a CAAB licensed processor.

CAAB chief executive Phil Morley said Cargill had proven to be an excellent partner with a worldwide network of marketing offices strongly supporting the brand.

As a consequence of Cargill’s international influence, he said CAAB was not only the major beef brand in the Australian domestic market, it was now exported to more than 30 destinations in the Asia Pacific.

Mr Morley said the stable relationships Cargill had developed with CAAB end-users along with the strength of the CAAB brand had seen the product weather the current global financial crisis in better shape than many other products.

Cargill will be a platinum sponsor of this year’s Beef Spectacular to be held at Dubbo, NSW, later this month.

Cargill livestock manager Grant Garey said the event would enable Cargill’s procurement team to interact with many CAAB/Angus Australia suppliers and provide them with valuable information on supplying compliant cattle into feedlots.

CAAB will work with Cargill to present a technical workshop at Beef Spectacular designed to assist suppliers to present their steers to the feedlot in the best possible condition to optimise the performance of those steers in the feedlot and at grading.

A series of CAAB technical workshops will follow in southern NSW, Victoria and South Australia similar to last year’s highly successful workshops in southern Queensland and northern NSW.

The workshops will cover weaning management, nutrition, animal health and analysing feedlot performance and grading feedback.

CAAB, in association with Cargill, will use Beef Spectacular to present the 2009 atumn tranche of the CAAB Quality Awards for cattle supply covering the production for the six months ending December 2008.
