Australia-Cheaper grain prices good news for cattle feed-lots.
AUSTRALIA.
FEED LOTS START FILLING.
The sharp fall in the prices of grain, have started the feed lot buyers to begin buying cattle again with a vengeance.
The feed lot of Kidman & Co, in South Australia, that closed its doors in November, has opened again and buying all the cattle they can get their hands on.
This is a complete about face in the industry, as the high prices for feed from July until September made feed lot cattle a non starter as a commercial venture.
Most cattle go into the lot for 70-90 days for finishing off, where they consume between 12-16 kilos of grain per day, until they attain a carcass weight of 350-370 kilos deadweight for the Japan and South Korea ox market.
