AUSTRALIA-HEREFORD CATTLE.

A LARGE gallery of buyers from the Western Division of New South Wales and Darling region ensured the third annual Laucke Merrina Darling River Poll Hereford bull sale on Friday, April 17 achieved its highest sale average ever of $3333.

There was also a total clearance of the 35 quiet temperament, well coloured and beautifully presented young sires offered by the Laucke family of Bordertown and Eudunda.

The sale was conducted at Viewmont Station via Menindee, which is owned by Graham Collins, and 13 of the 21 registered buyers were successful in purchasing from the outstanding draft.

The top price of the sale at $4500 was Merrina Z32 Howitzer C174 sired by Hanookra Trusty, and boasting outstanding 200, 400 and 600 day figures and high EMA.

The sale topper was snapped up by CJ Barnes & Son, Blackcoate Station, through Elders Broken Hill.

A second top price at $4100 was achieved twice for Lot 29 Merrina W69 Super C196 the last son of the famous Suzelle Paramount ever to be offered and purchased by LB Zanker Laurel Vale Station.

Also selling for the same money was another son of Hanookra Trusty, Merrina Z32 Trusty C209 who was bought by Glenalbyn Props, Wilcannia.
