Australia-Pork and Bacon trade remain good.
AUSTRALIA.
PORK TRADE REMAINS FIRM.
The Australian pork industry, has just come out of the worse period in the history of the industry and the good Xmas prices have been a huge bonus. The normal price cooling off period in January will not happen this year, owing to the shortage of supplies and the lack of imports due to the low Australian dollar.
The prices for carcass pork are AU$350c/kg, compared with last year AU$250c/kg, which is an exceptional turn around from last year. The cost of feed coming down and the lack of imports, can only help the situation. Unfortunately many pig farmers had the leave the industry before this turn around came.
