Australia-Record prices for sheep.
AUSTRALIA-SHEEP TRADE IS FLYING.
First cross ewes sold to a top of $142 at the long-running Annual Barellan Breeders first cross breeders sale on Friday.
Livestock agents including Mark Flagg Livestock and Property and Findlays Barellan sold 4500 sheep in scorching-hot conditions.
The temperature hit 43 degrees Celsius as repeat purchasers snapped up the best lines of ewes for good money.
The ewes averaged just under $110 and the result was up $2 on last year.
Most of the buying strength came from purchasers located to the east of the district at Cootamundra, Goulburn and Crookwell.
Mark Flagg of Mark Flagg Livestock and Property said the result was pleasing especially the prices for the joinable ewes.
