Blackgrass Spraying in Winter Wheat - Don’t miss the boat!
Exceptionally mild weather conditions over late December and early January saw soil temperatures rising to in excess of 10°C in some parts of the UK (primarily the eastern side), advises Dow AgroSciences.
During this period, active growth returned to blackgrass, presenting an opportunity for spraying with travelling conditions in the areas where blackgrass is a problem being exceptionally good for this time of year, says Dow AgroSciences Stuart Jackson.
With above average temperatures expected during the middle of January, the window of opportunity is likely to open once again.
"Where grassweeds have yet to be sprayed with GF-2070, then treating in these mild spells during January and February onto smaller weeds will result in significantly higher levels of control compared to applications in March and April onto bigger weeds," said Mr Jackson.
"Remember every time it turns mild your blackgrass plants grow bigger, becoming increasingly more difficult to control."
Don’t miss the boat!
