Brazil-JBS shares up.

BRAZIL-JBS-SA SHARES DOING WELL.

JBS climbed 3.6 percent to 6.06 reais. The company climbed the most in three weeks yesterday after data showing Brazilian beef exports increased 1.8 percent last month.

Cosan, the world’s biggest sugar-cane processor, gained 5.5 percent to 11.60 reais. Aracruz, the largest eucalyptus-pulp maker, added 3 percent to 1.72 reais.


Emerging-market governments and companies borrowed more in international bond markets this week than at any time in the past two years as interest costs plunged on optimism the worst of the global recession may be over. Sales by developing-nation borrowers rose to $9.5 billion, the most since June 2007, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

MMX gained 78 centavos to 5.30 reais. The company may draw interest from BHP Billiton Ltd. or Chinese steelmakers, according to Itau Corretora.

There is "potential to unlock value through an M&A transaction in the short term," Itau analysts wrote.


The Bovespa has climbed 16 percent this year on speculation government measures, falling interest rates and a recovery in commodity prices will boost growth.

In other Latin America markets, Chile ’s Ipsa index gained 0.2 percent today, while Mexico ’s Bolsa was little changed. The MSCI Emerging Markets Index added 0.4 percent.
